White willow bark contact active ingredeints mainly as phenolic glycoside and flavonoid glycoside. The phenolic glycosides consist of Salicin, Salicortin, Tremulacin, Fragilin Salicoysalicin, Salireposide.

Salicin is hydrolyzed in the intestine to saligenin (o-hydroxybenzyl alcohol), which is absorbed and then oxidized to salicylic acid.
